Scotty McCreery and his bride may just be 24 years old, but they have known each other for almost their entire lives. In fact, in an interview with The Knot, she revealed that she had a crush on him since they were five years old.
“Her diary in kindergarten… you’ll see ‘McCreery’ written all over it,” Scotty said with a laugh.
Fast forward almost 20 years, and that dream became a reality when Gabi Dugal became Gabi McCreery on June 16 during a faith-based ceremony in front of their closest friends and family in their native North Carolina.
Shortly before Scotty proposed to Gabi in September 2017 during a hike near Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina, he wrote a song titled “This Is It” with Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshius about the upcoming proposal and his love for Gabi.
Referencing their proposal hike, the first verse opens with, “Way up in the mountains / Four thousand feet high / There’s a trail through the trees to a cliff / Where Carolina meets the sky …”

Scotty released “This Is It” as a single in March, and finally dropped the music video for it on Wednesday (July 25), which showed footage from their wedding! He included everything from the rehearsal, getting ready, their first look, ceremony, reception, and everything in between.
Scotty got teary-eyed during their first look and when Gabi was walking down the aisle, even though he said he wasn’t expecting to get that emotional.
“The first look was a big one for me. I wasn’t sure I was going to tear up until then, and then it all kind of all hit me,” he told The Knot. “Seeing her walk down the aisle was another.”
He shared a photo of his reaction to Gabi walking down the aisle on his Instagram page, and used the lyrics, “Now you’re walking down the aisle, and I can’t help but smile,” but he changed it to, “Now you’re walking down the aisle, and I can’t help but cry,” as his caption.
