The Ratings Are In For The 2023 CMT Music Awards

The 2023 CMT Music Awards aired on Sunday (April 2). For the first time ever, the ceremony was held in Austin, Texas at the city’s Moody Center. Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini served as the hosts.

The night featured performances from artists such as Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and Cody Johnson. Many collaborations took place, including a duet between Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn. Carly Pearce performed a duet with Gwen Stefani, and the ceremony concluded with an all-star tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd and their late guitarist, Gary Rossington.

Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson were some of the night’s biggest winners. Kane and Katelyn Brown won the Video of the Year award for “Thank God.”

So how did the CMT Music Awards perform with viewers this year? We know the answer, because the ratings are in.

CBS Entertainment released a statement about the ceremony’s ratings. According to the company, this year’s CMT Music Awards reached 5.43 million viewers. Its broadcast ratings were up 5% from last year’s ceremony. Its steaming ratings were up 16% from last year.

Additionally, social media content pertaining to the CMT Music Awards attracted 2.6 billion potential social impressions. According to CBS:

Potential Impressions are the estimated number of people who might have viewed posts related to this topic. NetBase calculates potential impressions based on followers/fans of original posts and followers/fans of engagements.” 

CBS states the CMT Music Awards received 2.5 billion social media impressions last year.
