Trace Adkins Drops Music Video for Original Christmas Song
On November 29, country icon Trace Adkins released a mischievous new holiday track.
Adkins is no stranger to singing holiday music. The “Every Light in the House” singer has released plenty of his own Christmas tunes, including his 2013 album The King’s Gift.
The album features Adkins covering classic carols and hymns in a Celtic style, with songs like “Away in a Manger,” “Silent Night,” and “Tannenbaum.”
This time, Adkins’ new original song “Naughty List” brings a wilder side to Christmas music.
Written by Adkins, Monty Criswell, and Derek George, “Naughty List” tells the story of a character who isn’t afraid to end up on Santa’s bad side this year. In fact, as long as he gets to spend some quality time with his love, he’s perfectly okay with finding coal in his stocking this Christmas.
Adkins had been teasing “Naughty List” leading up to its release at the end of last month. Shortly after, a music video to accompany the song was also shared.

The hilarious music video starts with Santa at his home in the North Pole. In the clip, he answers the phone, and the caller asks if he would like to star in Adkins’ new music video.
Santa excitedly agrees to come to Nashville for the shoot. Before hanging up, he humorously asks if Adkins could introduce him to his good friend Blake Shelton.
The video continues with several lighthearted moments between Adkins and Santa. At times, the two seem amusingly annoyed with each other. There’s playful banter, including Santa gifting Adkins a Christmas sweater that he clearly isn’t fond of. At one point, Adkins even spikes Santa’s milk.
Throughout the video, Adkins sings the flirtatious lyrics directed at his leading lady.
“I can get you on the naughty list / I’m pretty tight with ol’ Saint Nick / I’ve got a tractor painted / Christmas red / You ought to see me in my old sleigh bed / I’ll put the happy in your holidays / I’ll leave a merry look on your face / Wrap you up in a long slow kiss / I can get you on the naughty list”
