Dolly Parton Donates $1 Million to the Salvation Army
Dolly Parton’s donation will support communities across the country by funding food and grocery programs for those in need.
Parton’s incredible donation to the Salvation Army marks the second time she has given to the nonprofit. This latest contribution comes nearly a year after her first gift of the same amount.

She has supported the organization for years and even worked with them closely in the past. Parton was the headliner for The Salvation Army’s 27th annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders game at AT&T Stadium in 2023.
According to a press release, the money for this donation comes from the Courage and Civility Award fund that Parton received from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, in 2022.
As part of the award, Parton was given $100 million to donate to charities of her choosing.
“Ms. Parton is once again ringing in hope and holiday spirit through another incredibly generous donation,” a representative from the organization said in a statement. “Ahead of this Christmas season, when hope is needed more than ever, we are honored and grateful to receive this gift which will help The Salvation Army serve millions of individuals and families during a time of vital need.”

The country icon announced a $2 million donation during a press conference at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee in October. Half of the money came from Parton’s personal funds. The other half was contributed through her business ventures, including Dollywood.
Then, another donation from Parton was revealed during the Concert for Carolina. The event, organized by Eric Church and Luke Combs, raised over $24 million to help North Carolina recover after the storm.
