Dolly Parton Previously Donated $2 Million To Help With Hurricane Relief

Dolly Parton is known for her generosity, and that’s been placed on full display in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

The country music legend held a press conference at Walmart in Newport, Tennessee, on October 4 to discuss the storm and its devastation.

I really, really wish that we were all together for another reason, but we all have seen the devastation,” she said. “I mean, who knew in our little part of the country here where I was born and raised just right down the road that we would have this kind of devastation?

Then, Dolly announced she would donate $1 million of her personal funds toward hurricane relief efforts. She also announced an additional $1 million donation from her various business ventures…bringing her total donation to $2 million.

I just want you to know that I am totally with you because I am part of you,” she said. “I love you…I’m just happy to be here to try to help out.”

Additional $1 Million Donation Announced At Concert For Carolina

Parton didn’t stop there. She’s now pledged another $1 million to help with hurricane relief efforts.

Parton’s new donation was announced at the Concert for Carolina on Saturday (October 26). Helmed by Eric Church and Luke Combs, the star-studded event raised over $24 million to help their home state of North Carolina recover after the storm.

Parton did not attend the Concert for Carolina. But the event’s host, Marty Smith, was honored to announce that Parton plans to donate another $1 million toward Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

This particular donation comes from the Courage and Civility Award fund Parton received from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, in 2022. Through the award, Parton was granted $100 million to donate to charity as she sees fit.

So I want you to know, that I’m directing one million dollars on his behalf to the Concert for Carolina…to my neighbors in North Carolina for recovery efforts,” Parton said in a message read by Smith at the Concert for Carolina.

Her note continued, “I know money won’t solve all the pain and suffering these floods have caused, but maybe it will help some of our people with recovery. It will take all of us working together, but we can do it. Love, Dolly.”

One of the concert’s attendees filmed the moment when the crowd learned about Parton’s generous donation. Watch that video below.
