With only two weeks until The Voice Season 14 finale, the pressure was on as the Top 10 contestants pulled out all the stops, hoping to avoid elimination Tuesday night (May 8). But, two talented vocalists saw their Voice dreams come to an end as they were sent home following a brutal night of competition.
It was especially tense night for one judge who was on the verge of losing his entire team. The remaining two member of coach Adam Levine’s team, Rayshun LaMarr and Jackie Verna, found themselves in the bottom 3 along with Alicia Keys’ team member Christiana Danielle. All three hopefuls had to sing in hopes of being instantly saved by viewer votes.
Team Alicia’s Danielle gave it her all when she sang “Unchain My Heart” by Joe Cocker. Team Adam’s Jackie Verna followed with a performance of the Randy Travis/Carrie Underwood hit, “I Told You So.” Her nerves and her emotions got the best of her as she struggled through the pitchy performance before breaking into tears at the song’s end.
Verna’s teammate, Rayshun LaMarr, closed out the Instant Save performances with his version of “Let’s Get It On.” A nervous Adam Levine looked on as his only hopes of remaining in the competition went head-to-head. But, after viewer votes were cast, LaMarr was saved, meaning Coach Adam still has a chance to take home this season’s title.
Moving on to next week, Blake Shelton is the only coach to have 3 hopefuls still in contention, with Kelly Clarkson and Alicia Keys giving him a run for his money with two contestants each. No doubt the competition will continue to be intense as we head toward finale week, especially with the heated competition between first-time coach Clarkson and the show’s winningest coach, Blake Shelton.
While we will miss Jackie Verna’s country sound on The Voice, we know that we’ll be seeing much more of her in the future! Hear Jackie sing “I Told You So” in the video below.
