Paddleboarding, kayaking, and whale watching are among the interesting activities to do in California.

On a Monday afternoon, Julie McSorley and Liz Cottriel decided to go kayaking and whale spotting in Avila Beach, California.

While seated in their kayak watching the whales below the surface, a terrifying encounter happened! A humpback whale breached the surface and almost swallowed both women and their kayak in a heartbeat. Such an unexpected incident took everyone around them by surprise while hearing the two women screaming. The humpback whale scooped up the kayak and the two friends in the air suddenly.

Several paddleboarders rushed to the two kayakers to make sure they are still alive and that they haven’t been swallowed by the whale.

‘I’m thinking to myself, “I’m gonna push.” Like, I’m gonna push a whale out of the way! It was the weirdest thought. I’m thinking, “I’m dead. I’m dead.” I thought it was gonna land on me,’ Cottriel said. ‘Next thing I know, I’m under water.’, Liz said to Fox 26 News.

Fortunately, the two women were able to extract themselves from the whale and get back to the shores unharmed with their kayak.

‘I was infatuated by them and in awe. But I never expected one to be right here, in my face! We got back to the car, I was shaking my shirt and a bunch of fish came out of my shirt.’ Liz said in the DailyMailUK.
