Left with scars on her face after cutting it open during a nasty fall that required upwards of 50 stitches, Carrie Underwood says she’s been very lucky during the healing process.
While she had explained that she “might look a little different” to her fans, the country music star hadn’t been seen in face-to-face interviews following the nasty fall…until now.
Sitting down with famous country music radio host, Bobby Bones, Underwood discussed her life, family, and career – and Bones didn’t shy away from asking about her accident just before the holidays.
“I’ve been very fortunate in the healing process,” she said, adding “I mean, I was lucky that when it happened everything was kind of shutting down in the music world, and we had the holidays and stuff like that. But I was at a point where I didn’t know how things were going to end up. I didn’t know what was going to go on. I didn’t know what it was going to heal like.“
But what really happened to Carrie Underwood? She stated in a social media post that she had just broken a wrist…and later explained she had about 50 stitches in her face.
I just wanted let everyone know that I’m doing great. Had surgery on my wrist yesterday & all went well…even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on…I’m so thankful for the doctors, nurses, family & friends who’ve been taking such great care of me.

Well, as the country music superstar continued to speak with Bones, he wasn’t afraid to ask her very pointed questions about what happened – and she told it all in detail.
Apparently, Underwood was taking the dogs out and tripped. She tried to catch herself but missed a step.
“If I had fallen anywhere else I would be perfectly fine, but it was one step that messed everything up,” she added. “I thought I just busted my lip when I walked outside. I went to go survey the damage and was like, ‘Oh no!'”
Beyond a broken wrist, Underwood had cut her face open around her mouth and chipped a tooth. She revealed that it was an emotional recovery because she still has a scar on her face from the ordeal – and was nervous about how her 3-year-old son would react.
“I was worried he’d be scared of me,” she confessed. “Now, if I put makeup on, he’s like, ‘Mommy, your boo-boo is all gone.”
Carrie Underwood hadn’t been seen in a public performance since the fall, that is, until she stormed the ACM Awards with her brand new single, “Cry Pretty.”
Now, she’s doing face-to-face live interviews.
