A Record-Breaking Year For One ACM Award Category
The 2023 ACM Awards were held on Thursday (May 11). For the second year in a row, the ceremony was available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
Two artists who earned an impressive total of nominations were Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson. They were both nominated for the Female Artist of the Year award, among others.
Lambert made history with her Female Artist of the Year nod. Previously, Reba McEntire had the most nominations in the category, with a total of 16. Lambert has now been nominated for the award 17 times, breaking McEntire’s record.
On top of that, Lambert holds the record for the most wins in the category. She’s taken home the trophy a total of nine times. Lambert won every year from 2010-2018.

Carly Pearce won Female Artist of the Year in 2022. She was also nominated in the category this year. Ashley McBryde and Kelsea Ballerini were the other two nominees.

Did Pearce pull off a back-to-back win? Did Lambert win the award again, adding to her already existent record? Or did the trophy go to Ballerini, McBryde, or Wilson?
We finally learned the answer to those questions when the winner was revealed during the ceremony. This year’s ACM Female Artist of the Year is…Lainey Wilson!
Wilson received the award from presenter and ceremony co-host Dolly Parton. “I can’t believe I just met Dolly Parton first of all,” Wilson said. She went on to thank her father, Jesus, her family, her label, and her team. She then recognized her fellow nominees, saying she was up there because of them. She ended by dedicating the award to all the little girls who were watching her accept the trophy.
Congratulations to Wilson on her big win!
