A couple from Colorado Springs got the surprise of a lifetime during a photoshoot on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Georgia Williams and her husband were in the middle of a maternity photoshoot at Red Rock Open Space when a bear walked out of the woods behind them.

The photographer was the first to notice the bear and advised the couple to remain calm while she captured the once-in-a-lifetime moment.

The happily married couple who moved to Colorado about a year ago and up until that point had never seen a bear before. She’s originally from Florida and her husband is from Mississippi. They were both shocked to see the animal casually strolling by.

Georgia explained to 11 News,

“The photographer didn’t think it was a big deal. He [the bear] made his way down and the photographer was like, ‘just keep posing. He started getting closer and closer and that’s when we knew we had to move away fast.”

While bears can be a fairly familiar thing to Colorado natives, the Williams family was very surprised about the close encounter.

Luckily, they were even able to take a video of the bear as it strolled away.
