Home security footage captured every pet owner’s worst nightmare in Murfreesboro, TN.
Jennie Tatum let her dogs out to play in the snow when one of the pups slipped and broke through the ice on the family pool. The dog quickly disappeared beneath the ice as Tatum jumped into action. Tatum, who was on the back porch, immediately raced to the patio and drove into the icy water after her dog.
At first, Tatum has trouble finding her dog under the ice. She makes her way across the pool without any luck. Finally, she has to exit the water to get a better look from the surface. Undoubtedly freezing, Tatum jumped into the pool for a second time and managed to pry her pet out of the water. Afterward, Tatum hurried her dog to the vet.
According to the vet, if Tatum’s dog had stayed in the pool a few seconds longer, he would have most likely died. Tatum was very fortunate to have seen when the incident occurred. She told FOX 17 News that her pool pump had broken just before the winter storms. If not for the break, the pool would have never frozen, which is why she and her husband have never purchased a pool cover.
Fortunately, the pup survived the incident, but the video is definitely nerve-wracking. Check out the full security footage clip below.
