The Kayce Dutton-Led Yellowstone Spin-Off Is Titled Marshals

Following the series finale of Yellowstone, it was announced that Kayce Dutton would get his own spin-off, as would Beth and Rip. While Beth and Rip’s show was eventually titled Dutton Ranch, Kayce’s show was initially titled Y: Marshals.

Despite already released a teaser in November 2025, the show changed its name to simply Marshals just two months before the premiere. The marketing for the show still shows the Yellowstone ranch’s iconic “Y” brand behind the show title, though.

Marshals Released The Official Trailer

On Friday, January 23rd, Marshals dropped the first official trailer.

It opens with Kayce waking up in the middle of the night in his bed, alone. In a voiceover, he says, “My family’s had this land for almost 150 years. The only thing I ever wanted was taken from me.”

The trailer then shows him and his son, Tate (played by Brecken Merrill), standing at the foot of a bed. A man is draping a sheet over a body. On the side table, lots of prescriptions bottles can be seen, possibly alluding to his wife’s Monica’s death from an illness.

A few seconds later, Kayce can be seen at a gravesite, which fans believe confirms that Monica has died.

The trailer then shows that Kayce joined the U.S. Marshals after being recruited by his old military buddy Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green). He joins Pete’s team made up of Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means).

According to the log line, “Kayce and his teammates must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate and his confidantes Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) from the Broken Rock reservation.”

The omission of Monica’s character in the show description is another clue that she was killed off. Fans believe Kayce joins the U.S. Marshals because of her death, seeing as he was stepping away from law enforcement at the end of the Yellowstone series for his family.

There is no shortage of action, adrenaline, and justice being served in the trailer, and it is only making us more excited to watch Kayce’s next chapter unfold. Will you be tuning in?
