As the last single off her 2016 critically-acclaimed double album The Weight of These Wings, Miranda Lambert chose the fiery song “Keeper of the Flame.”

The single is an ode to all the past, present, and future female country singers, letting them know that she is honored to hold the torch, having been passed it by the legendary female country singers who came before her.

“I have this responsibility from all these women who have come before me who have blazed this trail to make way for me to live this dream and write the songs I want to write and sing and just be an example in life,” Lambert told The Tennesean. “I hope this song translates that way, that I just get to hold the torch for a while and I can’t wait to pass it on to these new singer-songwriters. I just hope that I’m setting a good example.”

While she has been performing the single at her live shows for some time now, she debuted it for television at the 2018 ACM Awards, where it was hailed as one of the best performances of the night!

Since Lambert didn’t release official music videos for all of her singles from The Weight of These Wings, fans weren’t sure if she was going to do one for this single, but Tuesday morning she revealed that she was! Fans pointed out that this would be her first music video release since February 2017’s “We Should Be Friends.”

The video is an inside look to Lambert’s tour life and everything involved with it from rehearsing, sound checking, interacting with fans, putting makeup on, walking on stage, and putting on one heck of a show.

It did highlight a lot of Lambert’s female fans, especially the younger ones, who were wearing creative and homemade t-shirts.
