It looks like we might have another celebrity in office soon if rumblings from within the Michigan Republican Party come to fruition.

According to Roll Call, a news outlet that describes itself as “The source for news on Capitol Hill since 1955”, this hard-rocking Michigan native has had his name tossed into the ring for a possible senate seat in 2018.

Kid Rock, who was born in Romeo, Michigan, has become known as the “American Bad Ass” after the release of his top-charting rock single – and he definitely lives up to the name.

Churning out hits that take on a a country-rock or Southern rock sound, Kid Rock has earned a forever spot in the hearts of rockers and country music listeners alike, reaching new heights on both charts and throwing one huge party every year called the ‘Fish Fry’ for fans from all over.

After coming out in support of the two most recent Republican Presidential nominees, Mitt Romney and Donald Trump, Kid Rock has voiced his political views and opinions much more freely throughout the last two election cycles.

Through the new report from Roll Call, Kid Rock’s name was brought up during a Michigan Republican Party event just a week ago. Apparently, he was suggested by the GOP members as a possible future candidate for Senator…and that blurb seems to have garnered a massive response from folks.

Rock’s former statements have seen him describe himself as “more Libertarian” but he still threw his weight behind celebrity President Donald Trump’s campaign and performed during the Republican National Convention.

As WZZM 13 ABC News found, some local folks found the idea of a Kid Rock senator quite appealing with one local activist, Wes Nakagiri, stating Rock as a senator “has name I.D., is an out-of-the-box idea, and would kind of get rid of that stodgy Republican image,” adding that the Trump run for office could serve as a “template” for Rock, “I’ll bet you he would generate as much excitement as Trump did.”

Currently Michigan is represented by U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, a member of the Democratic Party and U.S. Senator Gary Peters, also of the Democratic Party. Stabenow has held the office since 2000 and it is expected that Rock’s suggested run would be against Stabenow in 2018.

Various news outlets reached out to Rock’s representative but did not receive a response for comment.
