8-Car Pile Up Leaves NASCAR Drivers Shaking Their Heads

FOX Sports NASCAR

Flying around the dirt track, once two trucks tangled on the outside edge, they just kept collecting trucks as the incoming drivers tried to avoid the pile-up.

Early on in the recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Eldora Dirt Derby, a young 18-year-old driver gets his first taste of the dirt track, but is wiped out before the race was even half over.

On lap 35 of the 150-lap race, eight drivers in total crashed after Caleb Holman and Stewart Friesen tangled coming off of Turn 3 after a restart. Daniel Hemric, Spencer Gallagher, Cameron Hayley, John Hunter Nemechek, Ben Kennedy, and William Byron all got caught up in the mess.

The first time racing on dirt for Byron, he’s already won four races this season, but this initial setback guaranteed he’d not be winning at Eldora on Wednesday. He got back in the race with his No. 9 truck, but that didn’t stop him from crashing again during Lap 71.
