Three months after returning to Vegas, legendary rock band Aerosmith was forced to cancel a weekend’s worth of shows due to illness.
Back in May, the band announced that they would be cancelling their June and July Las Vegas residency dates, and for a very serious reason. Lead singer Steven Tyler, who has struggled for many years with his sobriety, had voluntarily checked himself into rehab.
“As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery,” the band’s statement read.
The post revealed that they plan to resume their residency in September 2022 and people who had tickets for the June and July dates would be refunded.

On Friday, December 2nd – three months after their return to Vegas – the band was forced to abruptly cancel Friday’s (Dec. 2) show just hours before they were supposed to take the stage.
“It is with great disappointment that we are forced to cancel tonight’s show in Las Vegas due to Steven feeling unwell and unable to perform,” the statement read. “He is expected to make a full recovery for Monday nights Las Vegas show. We sincerely apologize for the last minute notice.”

Though they hoped Steven would be ready by Monday (Dec. 5), it turns out he is still sick.
“Unfortunately tomorrow’s show, Monday December 5th, in Las Vegas has to be cancelled,” the band revealed on social media.
Steven Tyler said, “On the advice of my doctor, I’m taking more time to rest… there is nowhere we’d rather be than on stage surrounded by the greatest fans in the world..”
The band continued, “We sincerely apologize.”
