Irving Taylor, Dudley Brooks, and Hal Stanley wrote “The Man with the Bag” in 1950. The song, of course, refers to Santa Claus and how everyone anxiously awaits his arrival on Christmas Eve.
Kay Starr first popularized the tune, and made it one of the biggest Christmas songs of the 1950s. Over the decades, it has received notable covers from artists such as Jessie J, Kellie Pickler, Lee Ann Womack, and Carly Pearce.
In fact, Pearce previously performed the song on the CMA Country Christmas special in 2022.
McBryde and Spencer followed Pearce’s lead by singing “The Man with the Bag” on CMA Country Christmas this year!
The duo delivered a lively and energetic performance and even had background dancers accompanying them onstage! Everyone looked like they were having a blast performing together.
