Auburn University students celebrated Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 5.

Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, becoming the second-ever president to be elected after failing to be re-elected after their first term.

At 78, he will also become the oldest president to be elected, passing current President Joe Biden, who was 77 when he was elected.

As of press time, President Trump has 277 electoral college votes, seven more than required to win the election. This is likely due to his winning the swing states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Wisconsin. Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Maine, and Alaska have not officially been called, but Trump has already secured enough to win. He is leading in all the uncalled states except Maine.

Auburn University students celebrated the election results in their way.

It is widely known at Auburn University that you go to Toomer’s Corner when there is something to celebrate. Toomer’s Drugs is diagonal from the entrance of Auburn University. The other two street corners have had rotating businesses over the years, but the one thing that stays the same is Toomer’s Drugs, hence why the students call it “Toomer’s Corner.”

Students usually go to Toomer’s Corner after a big football win, but there are a few instances in which they celebrate a non-Auburn football team victory. In January, rival Alabama football coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, so Auburn students celebrated at Toomer’s Corner.

Not only do students celebrate, but they also “roll” the corner, meaning they throw dozens of toilet paper rolls over the trees. Some may call it TP or toilet papering, but they say they “rolled” Toomer’s Corner at Auburn.

This is precisely what they did after Donald Trump won the election.

Students also arrived with American flags and Trump flags, and at one point, they all sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” our country’s national anthem.
