Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani Release Their Sixth Duet, “Purple Irises”
Blake Shelton and his wife Gwen Stefani have released a new duet, titled “Purple Irises.” This is their sixth collaboration since they’ve been together.
Over the years, Shelton and Stefani released the following duets.
- “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” (2016)
- “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” (2017)
- “Nobody but You” (2020)
- “Happy Anywhere” (2020)
- A cover of The Judds’ “Love Is Alive” (2023)
“Nobody but You” reached the #1 spot on the Country Airplay chart, and has since been certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. The song’s music video also won the Collaborative Video of the Year Award at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.
“Happy Anywhere” also reached #1 on the Country Airplay chart. It has since been certified Platinum by the RIAA.
Needless to say, Shelton and Stefani have experienced a lot of success with their duets!
They Started Teasing Their New Duet A Few Days Ahead Of Its Release
The couple’s new duet, “Purple Irises,” dropped on Friday (February 9). They started teasing it a few days before its release. Fans were thrilled to learn that they made another song together!
They teased their collaboration with a retro-looking cover photo. The picture shows Stefani lounging on the couch while Shelton sits next to her and plays guitar. Paintings of purple irsies surround them.
The track seems to reference the fact that Stefani loves planting flowers at home with Shelton in Oklahoma.

“Purple Irises” is a romantic track that has Shelton and Stefani taking turns singing lead. Though they sing together for most of the song, especially in the chorus. It includes lyrics such as:
“Wonder why you took a risk, on a broken heart you cannot fix. No, I never knew a love like this. Now we’re picking purple irises.”

Shelton has said before that he thinks he won’t ever record a full duets album with Stefani. But, he did say that maybe if they had enough songs, they could release a greatest hits package in a few years.
