Gwen Stefani almost leaked the news about her engagement to Blake Shelton a little too early.
Blake Shelton virtually shared the story with Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday. The talk show host brought up the fact that Stefani did not break the couple’s engagement news when she appeared on Meyers’ show in October. Meyers stated:

“I have a small gripe, which is, the very next day, she basically announced on Instagram that you guys have been engaged. That’s the kind of content we could have really had a lot of fun with.”
Shelton laughed and revealed that Gwen accidentally wore her engagement ring during her virtual interview.

“She kept, like, doing this with her hand,” Shelton said while he raised his hand to his mouth. “And you know, wondering if people would figure out that she was wearing an engagement ring. And I told her, I said, ‘You know you wear more jewelry than Mr. T. so I don’t think anybody is gonna pick up on that, Gwen.’ And they didn’t.”
If Meyers had noticed the giant rock sitting on Stefani’s hand, the secret would have been out! Blake added salt to the wound by pointing the camera and teasing Meyers.
“You could’ve figured it out. She was giving you hints!” Shelton exclaimed.

Meyers could have broken the love story of the year; however, the host had a good reason for missing the ring. Meyers explained that he did not like to stare at his guests on Zoom. The host explained:
“It’s very hard over Zoom because you never know. I don’t want to stare. You end up looking in the camera more than you do at the guests. So it was true. It was right in front of me and I missed it.”
