On TODAY, country singer Blake Shelton revealed his ideal wedding timeline to host Hoda Kotb.
Shelton and Gwen Stefani announced their engagement last October after five years of dating. Since then, the couple has played coy about an upcoming wedding date. Both stars wanted to wait until both their parents could safely attend the event, but during a “mystery guest” interview, Shelton opened up about his ideal wedding season.

During the interview, Hoda remarked that she and her fiancée had decided to postpone their wedding until summer or fall 2021. In response, Shelton was quick to admit that he would prefer to tie the knot this summer.
“I’m afraid if she and I wait until next November, then I’m right back into ‘The Voice’ cycle again, and I really want to be able to have plenty of time before and after, so hopefully this summer,” Shelton explained. “I think we’re right here at the point with COVID, it looks like it may be OK, but don’t know, so that’s tentatively the plan.”
When Hoda asked if Shelton thought he would beat her down the aisle, the country singer admitted that he believed he would be married first. Shelton stated:
“I’m gonna say we are,” he said. “We’re getting married before you guys.”
