In August 2019, Blake Shelton released a brand-new collaboration with his longtime friend and mentor, Trace Adkins. The song, titled “Hell Right,” is a party anthem that has the two country boys singing about the joys of having a good time and some cold drinks.

Fans were elated to hear Shelton and Adkins unite after their prior collaboration, “Hillbilly Bone,” was such as success. “Hell Right” also became a hit, and peaked at the 14th position on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Those who turned out to watch Shelton perform on his Friends & Heroes tour got the chance to see him and Adkins perform the song live. That’s because Adkins was one of the other acts accompanying Shelton on the tour, which also featured John Anderson, the Bellamy Brothers, and Lauren Alaina.

During one show in March 2020 in San Diego, Shelton noticed a little girl in the crowd that was singing along to the song with him and Adkins. Wanting to make her night, he walked over to her and let her take the mic.

The 5-year-old girl was elated, of course, and sang loud and proud. Her mother later shared a video of the performance online, writing, “You made this 5 yr. old little girl’s day! She loves your music and asks to listen to it at nights as she is falling asleep. Thank you very much Blake!!!

She also said that her daughter was hoping to see Shelton’s girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, at the concert, and was sad when she never turned up.

The Voice coach later spotted the video the girl’s mother posted, and retweeted it. He joked, “Hell Right!!!!!!! I never claimed to be a good roll [sic] model…
