Blake Shelton Released His New Single On November 15
Blake Shelton’s brand-new single, “Texas,” helped him break a personal record after its recent release.
Shelton released “Texas” on Friday, November 15. It is his first solo single since 2022’s “No Body.”
Over the past two years, the former Voice coach has released songs with his wife, Gwen Stefani (“Purple Irises”) and Post Malone (“Pour Me a Drink”). The latter track reached #1 on the Country Airplay chart earlier this year.
Shelton credits Post Malone for reigniting his desire to release his own solo music. As he recently told PEOPLE:
“Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your a–! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.“
In September, Shelton signed with a new record label (BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville). The move came after he left his former label of 23 years, Warner Music Nashville.
Shortly after announcing his new deal, Shelton revealed his plans to drop “Texas.” The song was marketed as being “different” from anything Shelton had done before.
The song also serves as a “nod” to George Strait. “The King of Country” gets a shout-out in the lyrics, which also reference his hit song “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”
