Carrie Underwood had one of the most eventful years of any country artist in 2016. She embarked on a nationwide tour that lasted throughout most of the year, travelled to Australia and New Zealand to tour with Keith Urban, filmed music videos, hosted the CMA Awards, and more. Underwood did all of this while maintaining a strict workout regime and taking care of her young son, Isaiah.
But Underwood’s hard work more than paid off. Her tour was one of the best of the year, and earned her a nomination for the Entertainer of the Year award at the CMAs. The two singles she released in 2016, “Church Bells” and “Dirty Laundry,” were both country chart hits, with the former hitting the number one spot on the Country Airplay chart.
Now that Underwood’s tour is over, she’s been enjoying some much-needed time at home with her family. As other artists have announced plans to tour and release albums, Underwood has remained quiet. As to be expected, fans have been curious to know if she’s got anything planned.
Speaking to E! News on the red carpet, Underwood finally shared what she plans on doing this year. Her answer? Absolutely nothing!
“I think I’m gonna enjoy a little time with my family and then start writing, maybe, and just seeing what I’m ready to do,” she said. “I don’t know. There’s no real plans.”
Even though Underwood doesn’t have any plans career-wise so far this year, she does have some big plans for her home life. After being away on tour for so long, she’s ready to get her house in order again.
“There’s always stuff to do,” she said. “I feel like my house is a wreck, so I’m like, I’ve got to get this in order. Being home off the road, every time we go home for a little short 24, 48-hour stints, I just drop stuff off and leave again. And now I’m trying to make sense of life.”
We think that sounds like a good plan of attack to start the year off, don’t you? You can watch Underwood’s full interview with E! about her plans for 2017 in the clip below.
After working hard on tour, we feel like Underwood more than deserves some time off. But we can’t help but get a little bit excited at her mentioning the possibility of writing some new material. Could this mean that we may have a new album from her by the end of the year or early in 2018? That would be fantastic!
