Chandler Kinney Performs In Honor Of Her Mom On Dancing With The Stars‘ “Dedication Night”
Actress and singer Chandler Kinney performed a heartfelt routine set to Lee Ann Womack‘s “I Hope You Dance” during Tuesday night’s (October 15) episode of Dancing with the Stars.
October 15 was DWTS‘ “Dedication Night.” The celebrities and their partners performed routines dedicated to someone special in the stars’ lives.
Chandler dedicated her dance to her mother.
“She is my rock,” she said in a video she shaerd before the show. “She is the calm in the storm for me. And she is just, ride or die for life. She’s been through all the ups and downs. And I genuinely would not be a fraction of who I am today without her.”

Chandler and her professional partner, Brandon Armstrong, delivered a contemporary routine to “I Hope You Dance.” The stunning performance earned compliments from all four judges.
They called the pair’s dance “beautiful” and “ethereal.” The judges also complimented Chandler for flawlessly sticking her lines.
However, Derek Hough and guest judge Mark Ballas noted that some of the side-by-side portions seemed out of sync. They also mentioned a few moments where Chandler appeared to stumble.
As for Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, they wanted to see Chandler bring more emotion to her performance.
In the end, each judge held up an “8” paddle for Chandler and Brandon’s dance, giving them a total score of 32. The score, combined with viewers’ votes, was enough for the pair to advance to the next phase of the competition. Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko were eliminated.
Many fans believed Chandler deserved higher scores. Some of the comments on YouTube were:
“I definitely have thoughts on this. Chandler and Brandon are constantly underscored. This one definitely deserved all 9s. Period.”
“This was seriously underscored!! I understand being harder on her but be fair with the scoring because this was not an 8.”
“How the h— did this not get 9s.”
“i loved chandler+brandon’s contemporary. for me, they deserved all 9s instead of all 8s.”
“This dance deserved 9’s even with a few mistakes.. the technique just seems much more advanced than any other contestant on this show.”
