Cody Johnson Debuts New Song “The Painter,” His First Release Off Of Upcoming Album Leather
Cody Johnson has a new album in the works, titled Leather.
One of the tracks on the album is a song called “The Painter.” Johnson released “The Painter” as the first single off Leather on Friday (August 11).
Prior to its release, Johnson teased “The Painter” on social media. He shared a sweet video of him dancing with his wife Brandi to the tune.

In “The Painter,” Johnson sings:
“She took chances. With every wall I built she saw a canvas. I thank God every day for how he made her. My life was black and white but she’s the painter.”
These words echo how he feels about Brandi, who he shares two daughters with. He previously told New Country 96.3:
“When I met her, I was a pretty crazy young guy and she’s helped me grow. She’s helped me become a man that I’m proud to be, and she holds down the house, and she holds down the whole fort.”

Johnson released the official audio clip for “The Painter” at midnight on August 11. The clip features a black and white photo of him and Brandi with splashes of vibrant green “paint” surrounding them.
