One country music star gave hope to those battling a challenging autoimmune disease known as “type 1 diabetes” with his admirable, and greatly appreciated donation at the JDRF‘s Hope Gala in Charlotte, North Carolina. Singer Eric Church‘s parents attended the event, as Church was enjoyed through a recording that he had formerly made to address the event. “Church’s parents, Ken and Rita Church, were honored Saturday night with the “Living and Giving Award” for their dedication,” reported WCNC, as they also addressed that Rita has been battling type 1 diabetes since her diagnosis a few years back.
As the night transitioned, Church caught attenders off guard when he made a surprise appearance at the gala to announce remarkable news!
“I can’t think of a more fitting occasion to make Chief Cares’ largest donation than in honor of my mother and her battle with type 1 diabetes,” as he unveiled his $1 million donation to assist funding research in hopes of finding a cure.
Chief Cares is an organization that “serves over 2.5 million people with charitable giving, helping Chief Cares make a difference in ways that matter,” according to the organization’s website. Church and his wife, Katherine, created the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee administered organization back in 2013 and have since “[aided] underprivileged families and children throughout Tennessee and Eric’s home state of North Carolina, as well as to help an orphanage in Nepal get beds, clothing, and offer schooling to children that would otherwise never get the chance; deliver bibles and aid to Haiti, and help fund the Humane Society’s no-kill animal shelters with funds that go towards operational costs.”
A big thank you goes to Church and his wife for their amazing contribution and incredibly kind hearts!
