NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. is an open book to his fans. He’s quite active on his social media accounts, especially Twitter and Instagram. He, again, was an open book letting his followers know about his post-retirement plans.

In 2017, he revealed that he and his wife Amy began working on a television series for the DIY Network about renovations to a historic home in Key West.

A few months ago, he gave us an inside look as to how things were going.

Spent the last 3 days working like crazy on a renovation project…for our [DIY Network] show coming early in 2018,” he captioned the series of photos. “Long way to go but it’s loads of fun.”

Four months after, and the race car driver was still busy at work in Key West! On Jan. 16, he shared another series of photos of him installing shiplap and drywall and running an excavator to dig a trench to hook up city water to the new plumbing. He also revealed that he sustained an injury on the job.

“Cut the sh*t out of my finger today,” he wrote. “Surprised I haven’t incurred more injuries to be honest.”

Dale Jr. shared a photo of his finger bandaged up on his Instagram story. You can see it in the video below. Here’s to hoping the rest of the renovations go smoothly and injury-free!
