Eight Volunteers Rescue A Moose Trapped In Oil

In a video published by The DoDo on July 22nd, 2020, a group of 8 people joined forces to rescue a moose trapped in black oil.

The rescue wasn’t an easy task. Out of the 8 people, four of them tried to pull the moose from his front legs and his head towards the embankment. The moose was extremely heavy and they struggled to lift him up. After several tries, they noticed that the moose’s leg was trapped, making the rescue difficult.

“We won’t be able to get the leg out. It’s stuck,” one of the volunteers said in the video.

With the help of another volunteer using a stick, they could access the moose’s leg and grab it.

“There! I’m grabbing, grabbing, grabbing”, said the volunteer.

After several minutes of strong efforts, the four volunteers finally pulled the moose out on the grass. While the moose stayed extremely calm, they washed him carefully to take off most of the oil he had on his body. For safety reasons, they kept his legs tied. Then, they flipped him over to wash the other side of his body and put him on a trailer to drive him to a safe place to be released.

Once they arrived in a wooded area, the volunteers took the ropes off his legs and set him free. You can hear one of the volunteers saying to the moose, “Now, get up!”

“Well done! There he goes. Calmly, calmly, calmly, calmly.” a volunteer said to the moose, congratulating him as he stood on his legs.
