Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox has ventured out on his own with his gospel EP One on One, which he released on Friday, May 21.

He told PopCulture that he has wanted to make a gospel album “forever,” but never had time with his hectic touring and recording schedule with Rascal Flatts.

And then the pandemic just shut the world down,” he said. “So it was like I had all the time in the world to do it. And I was like, ‘You know what?’ And I think I needed to do it for myself. I think I needed the medicine. And so, it was a great distraction from everything that was going on in the world.”

I can’t wait for people to hear it. And hopefully, they get a breath of fresh air after they listen to it and they’re like, ‘Ah, okay, life’s going to be all right,” he continued.

The EP includes collaborations with Breland, MercyMe, Jonathan McReynolds, and his very first duet with his daughter Brittany LeVox.

The younger LeVox celebrated the release on Instagram with a throwback photo of the two and said, “Our first official duet drops at midnight tonight! So proud of this record & especially this project! We pray it blesses & comforts you in your season or seasons of waiting!

Brittany and Gary’s debut duet is called “While I Wait” and was co-written by Christian artists Tauren Wells.  Gary told PopCulture that once he heard the song, he “thought it was a smash,” and explained how he got the idea of having Brittany join him on the song.

“My daughter was walking around the house, singing it all the time. And I was like, ‘Britt, just come to the studio and sing it with me.’ And she’s a singer. It just kind of played out that way. I didn’t really think about it.”

“While I Wait” might be the father-daughter duo’s first official recorded duet, but it’s not the first time they’ve shared the stage. She joined Rascal Flatts on stage back in 2018.
