A Legendary Celebration
On April 1st, 2019, country music stars near and far came together to celebrate the one and only Loretta Lynn. The legendary birthday bash included performances from Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, George Strait, and many more. While all the tributes were breathtaking, Urban had one promise he had to follow through with before the show ended.
Urban jumped out of Lynn’s giant birthday cake giving her the wish she hoped for! While it was one of the most fun parts of the event, Urban decided to extend his cake jumping skills to another country artist.
Country Cake Jumpin’
While on WGNA‘s Brian & Chrissy in the Morning, Urban told the story of how surprised George Strait was to hear that the singer was jumping out of a cake.
“He said, ‘I can’t believe you’re jumping out of a cake!”
Urban then told The King that he’d do the same thing for his 87th birthday too – where Strait politely declined in hopes of a different singer.
“He said, ‘I think I’ll have Lee Ann Womack do it, but thank you.”
Well, better luck next year Keith!
Shortly after this conversation, Strait turned 67, but he still looks as handsome as he did in his 30s.
