On June 6, country singer Granger Smith and his wife, Amber, took to social media to share some heartbreaking news. Their youngest child, three-year-old son River, had passed away.
Initially, Granger and Amber only said that River died as the result of a “tragic accident.” Later, the couple’s rep told People that River passed away following a drowning accident at home.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Granger wrote that he and Amber chose to donate River’s organs “so that other children will be given a second chance at life.”

River was treated at the Dell Children’s Medical Center in Texas following his accident. As Granger said, the “doctors, nurses, and staff have been incredible” to them during this tragic time.
Because of this, Granger encouraged his followers to send donations to the hospital in River’s name in lieu of sending flowers or gifts.
A few days after River’s accident, Granger’s apparel line, Yee Yee Apparel, shared a special t-shirt designed to honor River’s memory. The shirt features an excavator on the front, because “Riv’s favorite thing to do was watch excavators scoop up dirt,” and comes in a bright red, since red was River’s favorite color.
The apparel line shared that 100% of the proceeds from the shirts will be donated to the Dell Children’ Medical Center in River’s honor.

As you would expect, the shirts sold fast. Just two days after the shirts went on sale, Yee Yee Apparel announced that $50,000 had already been raised for the Dell Children’s Medical Center.
Then, due to popular demand, the company also added youth sizes of the shirt on the website.
The River Smith Tribute Shirts cost $21.99 for all sizes, and as of press time, the Yee Yee Apparel website says that you can get free shipping on orders of $85 or more.
Since the shirts are in high demand, the website asks to “please allow 7-15 business days” for them to ship.
