Country star Tyler Hubbard devastated his fans this morning when he posted a shocking update to social media.

One half of country duo Florida Georgia Line stirred up a buzz early this morning when he posted a photo to his Instagram account with the words “Done with the reel life and getting back to the real life” announcing his indefinite break from social media. Hubbard included a lengthy explanation about what led him to make this decision, one reason being his relationship with God.

“I’ve done a lot of thinking and praying about this for the last few days and I think it’s time for me to take a break from social media indefinitely…I’m not gone forever but I’m taking some time to refocus on my relationships, the Lord, my marriage, my family, and my music.”

The FGL singer goes on to express his love for his fans and for his followers (which total more than 382,000 on Instagram alone) but says he needs to redirect his focus away from how many likes or comments he gets on a selfie and onto “things that really matter.”

Tyler brings the post to a close by explaining he wishes “to make sure that [he is] living [his] life to the fullest and not worrying about making a highlight reel for the world to talk about or comparing [his] life to other peoples highlight reels. That’s not what life is about.

We’ll miss you Tyler, but wish you good luck on your journey getting #backtobasics.

I’ve done a lot of thinking and praying about this for the last few days and I think it’s time for me to take a break from social media indefinitely. I spend way to much of my valuable time worrying about my next post or how many comments or likes I got. Honestly it’s a little ridiculous and I’m ready to get back to focusing all my attention on the things that really matter. I love my fans and promise I’m not gone forever but I’m taking some time to refocus on my relationships, the Lord, my marriage, my family, and my music. Maybe I’ll even learn a new instrument instead of learning how to snap chat. I want to make sure that I’m living my life to the fullest and not worrying about making a highlight reel for the world to talk about or comparing my life to other peoples highlight reels. That’s not what life is about. #backtothebasics
