“Colder Weather” follows a trucker who’s feeling incredibly homesick. He misses the special woman in his life, but the winter weather keeps him from coming home to see her again.
Although he’s surrounded by the chill of winter, the trucker’s heart melts at the thought of reuniting with his love. He maintains hope they’ll be able to reunite in the near future.
“Colder Weather” became a #1 country hit. It also crossed over to claim a spot on the all-genre chart.
Many artists have covered “Colder Weather” since it was released. Though no one has ever shared a rendition quite like Home Free’s.
An A Cappella Take On “Colder Weather”
Country a cappella group Home Free featured their take on “Colder Weather” on their holiday album Full of (Even More) Cheer. But they were already used to singing the song at that point.
The group first amazed fans with “Colder Weather” when they were contestants on the now-defunct competition show, The Sing-Off. Home Free ended up winning their season of the show just one week after they performed “Colder Weather.”
After all that time, Home Free felt ready to make their cover of “Colder Weather” a little more official. They gave the song their full Home Free treatment, with an official recording and accompanying music video.
The group’s video for “Colder Weather” was released on November 15, 2016.
