The entire music industry was hurting from the news of Gregg Allman’s passing on May 27, 2017.

Tributes from fellow musicians poured in on social media, but Lady A, who had a show in Mountain View, California that night, decided to pay their condolences the only way they knew how – through music.

With only a few hours to prepare a tribute, the Grammy-winning country trio put on a performance of the Allman Brothers Band’s hit song “Midnight Rider,” which we think Allman would be proud of.

“Midnight Rider” was included on the Allman Brothers Band’s 1971 album Idlewild South and Allman released a solo version in 1973, which went on to be a Top 20 hit. Willie Nelson later covered the song for the 1980 film The Electric Horseman.

Allman’s career will never be matched, but his legacy will live on through his children, who are also musicians, and his peers who continue performing his songs.
