The two superstars had something special in store for one of NASCAR’s biggest names and helped turn his frown upside down!
Just before finishing inside the Top 5 during this weekend’s NASCAR Cup O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his crew were working hard in the blazing heat – something that would prove to be a talking point for Dale Jr.
Feeling the effects of the heat, both he and fellow teammate Jimmie Johnson were fighting off exhaustion as they worked their way through the more than 300 laps. Johnson got the worst of it and had to be treated for dehydration after the race.
“It was warm,” Earnhardt said, according to FOX Sports. “I thought the car was pretty warm all weekend, but our air conditioner wasn’t doing a very good job today. We’ve just got to relocate the outlet or the inlet to give it a better opportunity to get some air.”
As it turns out, even though Dale Jr. opened up about his “crappy day” on Twitter – there was a surprise in the pipe for him that would turn the whole day around!
Hand-delivered by teammate Elliott Sadler, Dale Jr. was snapped beaming a giant smile when he received a gift straight from country music star Blake Shelton and his girlfriend Gwen Stefani.
The photo shows Dale Jr. holding a beautiful new guitar that was signed by both music superstars and sent directly to him!
NASCAR and country music have a long standing relationship and just last year, used Shelton’s song “Bringing Back The Sunshine” in its season opener. Sadler was recently featured as a presenter during the 52nd ACM Awards in Las Vegas.
