It wouldn’t be the first time country music star Jason Aldean would invite fellow star Miranda Lambert on a hit track with him. Their first collaboration happened back in 2007 when Aldean released “Grown Woman” with Lambert’s vocals pairing perfectly alongside his. While the “Grown Woman” ballad holds a different sound than their newest song together, their harmonies in both tunes are irreplaceable.
Aldean’s alcohol-anthemed tune “Drowns The Whiskey” had another feature from Lambert. The ballad tells the story of when a few drinks just can’t cure the heartache. Lambert’s soft vocals harmonize with Aldean’s country twang for the perfect sound. The talented duo released the music video for the hit song which takes place in a dingy-dive bar with plenty of whiskey served around.
With the popular following of their latest hit, it was no surprise when fans went crazy over the duo performing together at this year’s 52nd Annual CMA Awards. Being the first time Aldean and Lambert would be performing this song together live, the anticipation was high for the singers and their fans.
Drowns The Whiskey Performance
The duo appeared on stage with a sulky dimly lit background. Aldean, wearing a cowboy hat and full jean outfit began the serenade. Miranda, coordinating with a sparkly blue bodysuit, followed shortly behind harmonizing with the singer. What an unforgettable performance for these two.
Whiskey might drown the memory, but we'll have a hard time forgetting that incredible performance by @mirandalambert and @Jason_Aldean. 😁🥃#CMAawards pic.twitter.com/aoM3XiBCab
