Jay Leno may be best known as the former host of the Tonight Show, but you probably also know that he’s got a serious thing for cars and even has his own car show. On a new episode of Jay Leno’s Garage on CNBC, the former talk show host and notorious car collector visits Elon Musk at the SpaceX headquarters to drive a prototype of Tesla’s Cybertruck.
Leno seemed impressed with the size of the truck and the amount of room there is inside. Leno also noted that the truck features Tesla’s signature instant acceleration which gives some credit to Tesla’s claims that the pickup can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.
Telsa went above and beyond with the Cybertruck by giving it bulletproof glass and doors so it makes for a good vehicle for surviving a zombie apocalypse with a sticker price starting at $39,900.
Leno asked musk,
“Why’s it important [for Cybertruck] to be bulletproof?”
To which Musk replies simply,
“Because it’s badass…super cool. I mean, do you want your truck to be bulletproof or not?”
Finally, the pair drive the Cybertruck to the site of one of Musk’s most famous creations — a test tunnel for a rapid transit system that runs for 1.1 miles underneath Los Angeles.
