Country singer JD Graham is on the mend after being involved in a near-fatal car accident at the end of last month.

On February 24, Graham was driving along the New Mexico Interstate when he was hit by a semi-truck, which then pushed his vehicle into another semi. His injuries were severe, and he had to be airlifted to a trauma center in Texas.

A few days later, Graham was able to share an update video on social media, letting fans know he was alive and explaining what happened.

He revealed he suffered a broken back, a broken neck, and several broken ribs. He also revealed that his dog had been in the car with him at the time of the crash and sadly died from the impact.

Graham still has a long and challenging road to recovery, but he’s continuing to keep fans updated as he works through it.

Earlier this week, he posted a photo on Facebook of himself in bed wearing a neck brace. In the caption, he thanked everyone who has been supporting him, especially those who have put together benefit shows in his honor. He also shared that he is scheduled to visit a neurosurgeon.

Graham also chose to move forward with the release of his new album Uppers & Downers, which dropped on March 5.

“I didn’t want it just sitting in a Dropbox folder,” he said in a statement.

In the statement, Graham also opened up about what the next few months may look like for his music career, saying his plans will have to change for the time being. As of now, he’s unsure when he’ll be able to return to touring and performing.

“I’m honestly not sure if/when I can get back to touring and connecting with you lovely folks as my future looks so different,” he said.

Graham added that he has canceled all shows on the European leg of his tour, along with his U.S. dates scheduled for May. After that, he said he will “reassess what I am able to do,” and make any needed decisions moving forward.

“I have to take this day by day and I’m not sure yet what this looks like and I ask for your patience as I don’t know where this goes at this point,” he continued. “Please hug your friends and family and tell them how much you love them because tomorrow is not promised.”

Graham’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help cover his medical expenses. His wife, Amy, is currently out of work after recently finishing cancer treatment and continuing to deal with her own health issues. So far, they have received over $70,000 in donations.
