Josh Turner released the song “Your Man” in July 2005. The sultry tune, which opens with the now-famous line, “Baby, lock the door and turn the lights down low,” was co-written by Chris Stapleton, Chris DuBois, and Jace Everett.
When it came time for Josh to film the music video, his wife, Jennifer, was his leading lady. The couple was newly married at the time, having said “I do” just two years prior.
Fans loved the Turners’ chemistry in the video. To this day, it’s known as one of the most romantic country music videos ever made.
Jump to today, when Josh has released a new, deluxe edition of his Your Man album. In honor of the release, Josh and Jennifer decided to recreate the music video for “Your Man” 15 years after they filmed it.
The couple returned to the same hotel where they filmed the original video. Josh spoke with People about how cool it was to reimagine everything:
“I don’t think anybody has done this, where the same people go back and recreate the video from 15 years prior, in the same location,” he said. “When I saw the first edit, I just sat there, and I was speechless. I was thinking, this is kind of crazy looking. Once you think you’ve done it all, you haven’t.”
A lot has changed since Josh and Jennifer filmed the first video years ago. They’re obviously older, and have many years of marriage under their belts by now. They’ve also had four kids, all sons:
“Obviously being 15 years later, we are with children and life has changed for us,” Josh told People. “A lot has happened. And so, it was cool, you know, not just on a professional level, but a personal level to look back and appreciate that kind of stuff.“
The new “Your Man” video is mixed with clips from the original. It’s neat to see the juxtaposition between the younger Josh and Jennifer and the Josh and Jennifer of today.
One clip in the new video brings home how much the Turners’ lives have changed since they became parents. The clip shows the two of them video calling their sons for a quick chat while they’re away on their date night.
