Kane Brown Reflects On Moment With Young Fan That “Touched [His] Heart”

On Friday, September 6th, at the Colorado stop on Kane Brown’s In the Air tour, Kane paused to greet a fan holding up a sign.

The sweet fan was a boy named Keylan, who had been bullied for the color of his skin.

Keylan brought a sign to his first concert that read, “Bullied for the color of my skin. I just want a hug from Kane.” When the boy displayed the sign, the concert guards let him cross the barricade, allowing him to meet his hero. Upon seeing the sign, Brown hugged Keylan and later shared the moment on his Instagram, saying:

“Be yourself, don’t worry about others, but also try and be kind. Treat others how you would wanna be treated. Tonight was amazing Colorado but this touched my heart.”

Keylan’s Mom Reminisced On The Concert

Keylan’s mom, Amanda, contacted Country Now and shared how she and her son felt after the big moment.

“I have so much respect for Kane after this experience. I could tell by the look on his face when he hugged Keylan that it truly touched his heart. The fact that he took time away from his show to hug my son and bring light to the subject on his sign was just amazing. Bullying of any kind I feel like is a topic that is typically brushed under the rug and I am so grateful he addressed it in-front of thousands of people.”

She continued to say:

“He has always looked up to Kane, they both come from a white mother and black father. I have played his song learning about Kane being bullied for the color of his skin and he would say ‘mom just like me.'”

Keylan felt a connection to the singer because they shared similar struggles and the same last name. His mother mentioned this while discussing the deep pain her son experienced due to bullying.

“He relates to him because he looks just like him. I respect him because his music is appropriate for the entire family. My son’s entire name is Keylan Brown so having the same last name and initials means the world to him. When he was bullied he would cry about the color of his skin and ask why those boys were being so mean not only on the bus but at the town pool also. He sees Kane’s strength and knows where he came from and after hearing it, showed him that it’s ok to Let it go.”

This Is Not The First Time

This is not Brown’s first time going above and beyond to show kindness and support, recently he even donated an entire music studio to a Boys & Girls Club in Texas. On Saturday, July 13th Brown was spotted in Texas at the unveiling of the new Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.

Brown said at the unveiling that he wished he had a Boys and Girls Club growing up because he and his brother got into a lot of trouble as kids because they had too much idle time.

Brown has used his career success and given back to the community. Brown’s moment with the young fan and his philanthropic track record are good reminders to be kind!
