Released in May 2016, Keith Urban‘s Ripcord was one of the best-selling albums of the year. Fans and critics alike were pleased with what they heard, with many dubbing it one of the greatest records of Urban’s entire career.
The hype around Ripcord grew with each new single that Urban released. From the suave “Blue Ain’t Your Color” to the energetic duet with Carrie Underwood on “The Fighter,” Ripcord has served as the springboard for one hit after another.
All of the success experienced by Ripcord and its singles led to the album being nominated for a handful of prestigious awards. It earned the nomination for Album of the Year at both the CMA and ACM Awards, and was also nominated for Best Country Album at the 59th Grammy Awards.
The music videos for Ripcord‘s singles have also been some of the most successful of Urban’s career. His video for “The Fighter” is his second most-viewed video on YouTube, with nearly 23 million views since its release in February 2017. That video took home the CMT Music Award for Collaborative Video of the Year.
With over 82 million views since its September 2016 release, Urban’s music video for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” is the most-viewed video of his career. Urban earned two additional CMT Music Awards because of that video: Male Video of the Year and the coveted award for Video of the Year.
After Ripcord‘s overwhelming success, fans have been anxious to know if Urban has plans in place to release any new music soon. While he hasn’t given a clear answer, he just offered a hint that a new project may be on the way.
On Wednesday (July 19), Urban shared a photo that was clearly taken in a studio setting. But just in case his followers didn’t get the picture, he made sure to write that he was “back in [the] studio!“
