The newest Voice coach finally breaks down the drama and rumors surrounding a tweet where she was believed to have called Miley Cyrus a “pitchy stripper.”
Speaking with talk show host Andy Cohen on Friday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Kelly Clarkson opened up about her comment calling the VMA performers “pitchy strippers” and what that has to do with Miley.
How It All Started
Back in 2013 during the annual VMAs, Clarkson was watching from home and chose to tweet out some choice words regarding the performances the show featured. Expressing her views about how a couple of them went, she likened some of the acts to “pitchy strippers.”

Many people assumed Clarkson was directly calling out Miley Cyrus in her tweet because she was one of the performers. There were many performers that night besides Cyrus, but it seems that plenty of the general public believed that this tweet was centered only around her.
Was It NOT Miley Cyrus? “I’m Not Saying Who It Was”
Throughout the course of the talk show’s segment titled “Plead The Fifth,” Clarkson makes one point abundantly clear – she never said it was Miley Cyrus.
“I never said Miley Cyrus,” Clarkson said bluntly. “The fact that I tweeted ‘pitchy stripper’ and people thought Miley Cyrus is not my problem. I’m just sayin’.”
While she didn’t name names, Clarkson says that she is refusing to confirm or deny who the tweet was/was not directed at because she wants to keep the truth private.
“I am not saying who it was. If I say it’s not then you’re going to guess somebody else,” she said before laughing and poking fun at the host. “You’re trying to manipulate me. I’m gonna drink more. Soon I’ll say the truth!”
