The legendary star of the silver screen with nearly 100 different movies and projects under his belt has sadly passed away at the age of 103.
Kirk Douglas, who is the father of actor Michael Douglas, was mourned by his family in a statement to People Magazine.
“It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103. To the world, he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years, a humanitarian whose commitment to justice and the causes he believed in set a standard for all of us to aspire to.”
Kirk, who suffered a stroke back in 1996 had been enjoying good health for the decades since and even attended Michael’s induction at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in November 2018.
One of the few remaining Hollywood icons from the golden age of film, Kirk Douglas earned his first Academy Award in 1950 and his career just soared after that. Totaling more than 90 different acting credits that include 75 movies, Kirk truly was the definition of a Hollywood Star – and his son learned a great deal from him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Douglas family during this very difficult time.
