When it came to securing the lineup for this year’s Country Christmas special, the CMA hit all the right notes. Some of the genre’s biggest stars turned out to celebrate the holiday season, including Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, and Trisha Yearwood. To top it all off, the entire special was hosted by Reba McEntire!
Another outstanding artist that participated in the CMA Country Christmas special this year was Lady Antebellum. The trio is known for having one of the highest-charting country Christmas albums in recent years with their 2012 release On This Winter’s Night. It secured the top spot on the Billboard Top Holiday Albums chart, and also hit the second spot on the Top Country Albums chart. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the album was a crossover sensation, and reached the eighth spot on the Billboard 200.
On This Winter’s Night contained six tracks that the trio had previously included on their 2010 Christmas EP A Merry Little Christmas. Those tracks were paired with an additional six to form the contents of On This Winter’s Night, which featured classics such as “All I Want for Christmas is You” and “Silent Night.”
When it came time for their performance on CMA Country Christmas this year, the group opted to sing two songs. The songs they choose were “This Christmas” and “Silver Bells,” which are both classic tunes beloved by many.
The trio is quite familiar with the two songs, since they were both recorded for On This Winter’s Night. They’ve had years to master those songs, and that mastery shows through in the way they expertly weaved their signature harmonies through each of them.
We’re sure that those who tuned in to watch CMA Country Christmas enjoyed the trio’s performance of “This Christmas” and “Silver Bells.” We know we did!
Now you can witness Lady Antebellum’s wonderful performances by tuning in to the videos below. We love the way their voices sound on both songs!
