2017’s CMA Country Christmas did not have as many cross-genre performers as they have in year’s past. Of the 12 performers, including Reba McEntire, who pulled double duty as host, the only non-country singer was CeCe Winans, an award-winning gospel singer.
Backed by a full choir, Winans took the CMA Country Christmas to church with chill-inducting vocal riffs and mind-blowing harmonies for an incredible rendition of “Joy To The World.”
Her voice soared above the rest, confirming why she’s one of the best-selling gospel singers of all time. Winans’ performance quickly turned into being one of the most talked about moments of the night, not to mention that we’ve never heard a version of this song quite like this before!
Winans has won a staggering amount of awards including ten Grammy Awards, 22 Dove Awards, seven Stellar Awards, as well as being inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Nashville City Walk of Fame and dozens of more accolades.
