The 2007 meltdown that saw the pop star go bald hits home with one of country music’s own talented female superstars. In a 2016 interview with Britain’s Metro paper, LeAnn Rimes opens up about how she was ‘in those shoes’ before.

Signing her first major record deal at just 11-years-old, Rimes has been a face of country music for more than 20 years – and has seen her fair share of ups and downs in the public’s line-of-sight.

While she avoided a public breakdown like that of Britney Spears, with the whole ‘shaved head’ experience and a bizarre attack on a vehicle with a large green umbrella, Rimes says that she likely could have ended up in the same boat.

Struggling to deal with her fame and the never-ending pressure of the public’s voice, Rimes says that she’s seen that side of life up close and personal.

The shaving head thing? I totally understand it,” she tells the publication. “I didn’t go there, but I definitely had the feeling of it, I’m sure, at some point.”

The pop princess got help for her troubles and has climbed back up with a Las Vegas residency in 2013, secured custody of her two boys, and has really made giant strides.

Like Britney, Rimes went through some troubling times when she divorced and remarried a man that she first met while already married. In addition to unending public scrutiny of her personal life, husband Eddie Cibrian’s ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, has started repeated uproars on social media that have produced unwanted attention.

But also like Britney, Rimes is releasing new music from her first album since 2013’s Spitfire.

I look at her and think it’s really amazing what she’s overcome,” Rimes continued. “It’s nice to see someone come out the other side and be successful again.”
