Cole Swindell‘s “You Should Be Here” is one song that will never fail to make certain country fans cry. The song is a personal one to Swindell, since he co-wrote it as a tribute to his father, who unexpectedly passed away while Swindell was on tour.
Fans were easily able to relate to the tear-jerking track, which is probably why it performed so well on the charts. It topped both the Billboard Country Airplay chart and the Hot Country Songs chart. The song was also a crossover success, and managed to climb as high as the 31st spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Since its release in late 2015, “You Should Be Here” has been heard by country fans of all ages. One young boy knows the song so well that he bravely performed it in front of a crowd.
Since Tuesday (February 6), a video has been making the rounds on Facebook of a five-year-old boy singing “You Should Be Here.” The little fella looked like an exemplary cowpoke, with a big cowboy hat on his head and an acoustic guitar in his hands.
With Swindell’s track playing in the background, the boy sang along with a sense of confidence beyond his years. While he stumbled over some of the words, he clearly knew them all, because he kept right up with Swindell’s singing on the recorded track.
The little guy also strummed along on his guitar as he sang. Even though he wasn’t playing the exact notes in the song, no one in the audience seemed to mind. After all, he is only five years old!
It’s quite remarkable that this boy was able to sing and play guitar so well at such a young age. With a little bit of practice, he’s set to be a country star himself one day!
Tune in to the clip below to watch this young cowpoke sing “You Should Be Here.” You can expect the tears to start falling once you start the video, so you better grab some tissues first.
