Loretta Lynn was one of many country artists who took to social media to pay tribute to Charley Pride following his death on Saturday (December 12) at the age of 86.
Pride, who was a member of the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame, died in Dallas, Texas. A statement on his official Facebook page indicates he died as a result “of complications from Covid-19.”
“Charley felt blessed to have such wonderful fans all over the world,” read part of the statement. “And he would want his fans to take this virus very seriously.”

Lynn and Pride were two of the biggest country stars of their era. Naturally, the two of them ended up becoming friends.
So Lynn was understandably devastated when she heard that Pride had died. She addressed his passing on social media, calling it “heartbreaking.”
“I truly loved my friend, Charley Pride,” she said. “The world will never be the same.”
Lynn ended her message by writing, “I’m all tears tonight.”
You too will likely find yourself in tears after reading Lynn’s note below.
May Pride rest in peace. His music and his legacy will last forever.
