Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s daughter finally spoke out about the actors slated to portray her parents in a new biopic.

Recently, it was leaked that actors Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem were “in talks” to play Ball and Arnaz in Being the Ricardos. The new movie will follow a week of production on the classic television show I Love Lucy, but unfortunately, some fans are uneasy with the casting decision. Many social media users argued that Ball’s celebrity lookalike, Debra Messing, should be given the role instead of Kidman. In response to the fan nomination, Debra also spoke out and admitted that she was “available” for the part.

Even with mixed reactions from fans, Lucie Arnaz, 69, remains confident in Kidman. On Sunday, Lucie shared a video on Facebook to settle the matter once and for all.

“There seems to be a lot of discussion about ‘Nicole Kidman, it should be Debra Messing, it should be Carole Cook,’ I don’t know,” Lucie explained. “Here’s the deal, what you should understand: We are not doing a remake of I Love Lucy. No one has to impersonate Lucy Ricardo nor do the Vitameatavegamin routine or the chocolate factory routine or…any of the silly things.”

Lucie assured followers that Kidman would not be impersonating Lucy Ricardo, but instead, portraying the real-life actress and mother. She also promised that that fans would not be disappointed by the film. Lucie stated:

“I hope I can set the record straight here and say stop arguing about ‘Who should play it? She doesn’t look like her? The nose isn’t the same, she isn’t as funny.’ Just trust us. It’s gonna be a nice film. And P.S.: The voting is over.”
